Accessibility & Eligibility
Paratransit/Reduced Fare Eligibility
TheRide fixed-route buses and stations have accessibility features (e.g. wheelchair lifts) to make fixed route service accessible for individuals with disabilities. However, if a person is unable to get to fixed route stops, or unable to use fixed route service for disability-related reasons, A-Ride, TheRide’s complementary paratransit service is available. Please see TheRide A-Ride Service for more information. Paratransit/A-Ride eligibility requires a separate application from the reduced fare application.
TheRide offers reduced fare discounts to eligible individuals based on age, income, or disability. Riders must have a Fare Deal Card (or GoldRide Card for age 65+) to be eligible for reduced fare. The Fare Deal Card application is available for download by clicking here. The GoldRide Application is available for download here.
Eligibility may be determined for seniors and youth by a valid photo or student ID. Medicare and Medicaid card holders are also eligible for reduced fare. Individuals with disabilities who do not use paratransit/A-Ride are also eligible to receive reduced fare for fixed route service by completing the disability portion of the Fare Deal Card application. This portion requires verification of disability by a certified medical professional.
