SMART ADA Service
Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART)Hours of Operation
Although you must schedule paratransit rides, SMART ADA buses operate the same days of the week and times of the day that the local SMART fixed route buses operate. You may select a route to see the bus schedule/hours of operation at https://www.smartbus.org/Schedules/Route-Schedules.

Method/Rules for Scheduling a RideReserve your SMART ADA trip by:
- Calling (866) 962-5515, press 1, then press 1 for ADA, then press 1 to schedule your trip.
- Utilizing the hearing impaired relay number – (800) 649-377
- You will receive a 30 minute pick-up window. Please be ready at the beginning
of the window.
When to Book
- ADA Customers are permitted to reserve a
trip up to 14 days in advance - Booking your trip as early as possible is
highly recommended - If the trip request is made by 4:00 PM the day
prior, SMART will work to accommodate
your request - Same day trip requests are not accepted

Operating Area
SMART ADA service is a complementary paratransit service provided within 3/4 of a mile from all SMART fixed routes located in Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne Counties. For more information about SMART fixed route locations, go to https://www.smartbus.org/Schedules/View-Routes.
Fares
Standard Fare
$3.00 each way (includes transfers)
Personal care attendants ride for free as long as your SMART ADA certification specifies the need for a PCA.
Reduced Fare
Only people with disabilities who are unable to use the SMART fixed route services are eligible for SMART ADA paratransit. Therefore, there is no reduced fare for paratransit services. All eligible riders pay $3.00 per one-way trip.

SMART ADA Paratransit Service is an advanced reservation, curb-to-curb service that is provided for people who are unable to use SMART’s Fixed Route bus service because of a disability. In order to use this service you must be ADA certified. ADA certification requires an application, and professional verification.

Transit Service Accessibility
SMART ADA paratransit service is a curb-to-curb service. SMART drivers also offer door-to-door service at the request of ADA certified individuals. All vehicles are equipped with lifts to accommodate wheelchairs and scooters, as well as for those using canes and walkers.
Additional Notes
In addition to SMART ADA service, SMART Connector service gives another option for curb-to-curb transportation that is accessible to people with disabilities. SMART ADA service travels within 3/4 of a miles of SMART Fixed Routes. SMART Connector service travels anywhere within a 10 mile radius of a designated service area.
