TheRide A-Ride
Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (TheRide)Hours of Operation
A-Ride service operates during fixed-route service hours. (See TheRide Fixed Route Service for more information).
Method/Rules for Scheduling a RideA-Ride reservations can be made by calling 734-973-1611 during call hours. For advance reservations (trips 1-3 days ahead of time), call 734-973-1611 and select option 2.
Call hours
Weekdays: 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Weekends: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
You will need to give the dispatcher the following information to make your reservation:
- Your A-Ride I.D. number
- The date(s) you want to travel
- The time of your appointment
- The time you want to be picked up
- The name and address of where you need to go
- The specific entrance you want to be picked up at
- What assistance you may need, or what mobility aids you use
- If anyone is traveling with you

Operating Area
TheRide A-Ride is a complementary paratransit service to TheRide’s Fixed Route Service. It operates in the same area as fixed route service – the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area and nearby Pittsfield, Scio, and Superior Townships.
Fares
Standard Fare
A-Ride eligible seniors, individuals with disabilities, and adult companions: $3.00
*Registered Personal Care Attendants ride with A-Ride Card Holders for free

Reduced Fare
This service is only for eligible seniors and individuals with disabilities. There is no reduced fare for this service. $3.00 is the fare for A-Ride users except registered Personal Care Attendants, or companions of the A-Ride Card Holder.

Paratransit/Reduced Fare Eligibility
A-Ride is TheRide’s complementary paratransit service. To be eligible for paratransit/A-Ride service, you must be a senior or individual with a disability and have an A-Ride Card. You can apply for an A-Ride Card by downloading the application here. Mail completed applications to:

There is no reduced fare for A-Ride service because it is a service only for individuals unable to use TheRide fixed-route service. Eligible individuals pay $3.00 per ride. Registered Personal Care Assistants of A-Ride Card Holders ride free.
Transit Service Accessibility
A-Ride is TheRide’s complementary paratransit service. Services are door-to-door or curb-to-curb. A-Ride trips are provided in accessible lift-equipped buses.
Additional Notes
A-Ride is strictly for seniors and individuals who are unable to use TheRide fixed route system due to a disability. A-Ride operates within 3/4 of a mile of TheRide fixed route bus lines. If you live more than 3/4 of a mile from a TheRide fixed route bus line, see TheRide FlexRide service.
