KAT Flex Routes
Kalkaska Area Transit (KAT)Hours of Operation
Routes run Monday-Friday. Stop times are twice a day and vary by route:

Method/Rules for Scheduling a RideThis service has posted stops and schedules. You do not need to reserve KAT Flex Route rides.
If you need a lift-equipped vehicle or cannot used fixed routes due to a disability, it is recommended you schedule a ride using KAT Door-to-Door Countywide service. This service can take you to the same destinations at the same fare as KAT Flex Routes. Call (231) 258-6808 to schedule these rides.

Fares
Standard Fare
- Within Kalkaska Village: $1.00
- Outside of Kalkaska Village: $2.00
Reduced Fare
Within Kalkaska Village
- Persons with Disabilities with Reduced Fare Card: $0.50 each way
- Students with valid student picture ID: $0.50 each way
Outside of Kalkaska Village
- Persons with Disabilities with Reduced Fare Card: $1.00 each way
- Students with valid student picture ID: $1.00 each way
Effective January 1, 2020. , Senior Citizens (60+) ride at no cost WITHIN the county.
Accessibility & Eligibility
Paratransit/Reduced Fare Eligibility
For anyone who is not able to get to a flex route stop due to a disability, KAT Door-to-Door Countywide service is available at the same fares. Not all of the flex route vehicles have wheelchair lifts. Call to ensure a lift equipped vehicle is available if you plan to use the Flex Route service or, alternatively, schedule your trip through KAT Door-to-Door Countywide service.
Persons with disabilities are eligible for a Reduced Fare Card. A Reduced Fare Application must be submitted to apply for reduced fare eligibility, A physician’s certification is required in this application.
Transit Service Accessibility
Not all Flex Route vehicles are lift equipped/accessible. Call to ensure a lift equipped vehicle is available if you need one and plan to use the Flex Route service or, alternatively, schedule your trip through KAT Door-to-Door Countywide service. KAT Door-to-Door Countywide vehicles are lift equipped and accessible to individuals with disabilities.
